Tips For Invisalign Users

Dr. Viorela Bauer and the expert dental team at Bauer Dental Center want you to feel 100% confident when it comes to your InvisalignⓇ treatment. Provided below are a few tips to make sure your treatment goes as smoothly and quickly as possible.

  1. Wear Your Aligners – The designated time to wear your aligners is a minimum of 22 hours a day. This means you have a small window to enjoy meals. The limited-time to eat is the main reason patients lose weight during their treatment duration.
  2. Add Wear Time – If you’re a person that doesn’t follow rules very well and you don’t follow tip #1 then you should think about extending the amount of time you wear your aligners. This is to ensure that your treatment is working correctly. Extending your wear time 2 weeks before your next set should balance out your treatment time.
  3. Have a nail filer and baby nail clippers on hand. – If you find yourself dealing with sore spots on your gums then you might have an overhang of extra plastic on your new set of trays. If you don’t have time to stop by the office for an adjustment, try trimming them yourself by smoothing out the rough edges with a nail clipper/nail file.
  4. Rinse, Floss, Brush. – You should always want to keep your mouth as clean and healthy as possible. To keep your teeth and aligners clean, rinse with water after every meal or beverage. Also, use floss to remove any food debris that happens to get stuck in between your teeth. If you have time, you should always brush after your meal. You can save your toothbrush from wear and tear by dedicating a second toothbrush to your aligners.

Properly taking care of your aligners can help to increase the treatments projected time frame meaning you can have the smile you hoped for sooner than later. For more tips and tricks on InvisalignⓇ care, contact our offices in Arroyo Grande, CA to schedule an appointment.
